IntellePeer: It's All In The Name

I frequently get sent press releases from companies with all kinds of names. Some names are descriptive, others are not. Given the amount of stuff I have to sift through for my blogging, if your elevator pitch doesn't get my attention-and the name of the company is part of that pitch, by the way-you might get missed.

VoEX was one such company. Despite knowing their PR firm from other companies I've blogged about, I did not look too deep into the press releases. I didn't have time to sift through the press releases for details.

IntellePeer. Now that name says something. “Intelligent Peering.” And sure enough, if you read their latest press release-included after the jump-that's exactly what they do. They provide the infrastructure, bandwidth, and transcoding facilities needed to allow disparate voice networks to communicate with each other without touching the public switched telephone network.

We certainly don't have enough “peering” in the voice over IP market, that's for sure. I'm all for companies trying to make it happen. I'll be keeping an eye on IntellePeer as they develop their offerings and gain clients.
