Listening In? Give Me A Break!

I swear this comes up at least once a year. Despite the fact that encryption is widely available in VoIP, it's not used all that often. Because of that, people get all upset because “someone could be listening in on your calls.”

This same issue came up less than six months ago. My response is basically the same: get real. The risk is no greater than it is on a regular landline, which is easily sniffable through a little box on the side of your house.
